AÇAI OIL and AÇAI BERRIES EXTRACT

Botanical name:

Euterpe Oleracea Pulp Oil and Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract.

Origin: It is a species of palm tree native to Brazil, Peru, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Skin benefits: The Açai berries are cold pressed to yield the oil. Research on the Açai fruit has focused on its antioxidant capacity to scavenge free radicals directly when applied onto the skin. The fruit is rich in flavonoids, polyphenols and anthocyanins and essential fatty acids – Omega 6 and Omega 3, all potent antioxidants. Acai oil soothes the skin, lubricates it and acts as a moisturizer due to its good concentration of oleic acid. Healthy fatty acids like omega-9 and omega-6 in acai oil make it anti-inflammatory for the skin. Thus, it is helpful in skin conditions that cause redness and swelling.

High ultraviolet light is harmful for the skin, as it not just causes tanning, but also leads to accelerated ageing, and even aggravates risk for skin cancer. Açai oil contains ferulic acid which has demonstrated UV protection when combined with vitamin C and E. Other nutrients found in this little fruit include vitamins A, C and E, calcium, phosphorus, iron and thiamine.

It is widely used as an anti-ageing agent due to its high phytosterol content, which stimulates the metabolism of cells and reduces inflammation, and its potent antioxidant capacity.

Açai Berries Extract. The berries of Açai are extremely high in vitamin C, which is an antioxidant. A 2006 study conducted by the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that Açai had by far the highest oxygen radical scavenging activity of any food measured to date, strongly supporting the Açai’s antioxidant properties. Vitamin C also helps to support and maintain our natural production of collagen. As a protein that makes up our skin, collagen is responsible for its elasticity, moisture, and structure. Therefore, Açai berries may help to maintain young and radiant skin.

Acai berries also contain copper, which is responsible for maintaining normal pigmentation of our skin. It can help to prevent hyperpigmentation. Research have found Açai berry to be one of the most beneficial natural ingredients for the treatment of hyperpigmentation.
